Another barn shot...
I'm afraid of this light switch, maybe it's like on Lost, if I turn it off, will the world end? I'm not gonna risk it...

My vote is that by turning this switch off, you pull the plug on the ocean and it's bye-bye water surfing for Lukie. Either that, or it's all sliding doors and you're transported to Luke's version of the Prisoner-farm style. Give it a whirl, why dontcha? But make sure to record the whole thing.
