Brake burns, church suppers,
fireman's breakfasts, truck tractors,
surfing and all the other things that
make the south shore great!

Damn you duke boys!
Taken just down the road from the Conq. Mills hall, this spot is a perennial location for brake burns. This year's offering is more muted than last year's, perhaps they're pacing themselves? ^_^
Conquerall Mills Variety Supper & Horse/Ox Pull
June 23, 2007
Conquerall Mills, Nova Scotia
The rain stayed away this year (poured at this one last year), and the crowds were out in full force to watch the pulls:
It's always cool to see 'young fullers' helping out at these events:
We must be seasoned veterans of these suppers, judging by how early we lined up for the meal...mind you, if we hadn't been there so early, we might've missed this character:
Once inside, this dinner fails to dissapoint year after year...sorry for the blurry pics, my kingdom for more light (and a tripod)!:
Mmm, I'm getting hungry again looking at all that food: potato and macaroni salad, some delicious smoky baked ham and pork roast, swedish meatballs, baked beans, BBQ chicken, big 'ole plate of bologna, scalloped potatoes, lasagna, spaghetti and meat balls, lunenburg pudding, and little sandwiches with the crusts cut off....ahh, bliss! To top it off, Kool Aid to drink (as well as the usual 'stiff' cups of tea and coffee). Not sure why the Kool Aid was so good, but it was amazing!
Bit of everything on the plate, with some yummy cherry cheescake for dessert. We sat by this awesome sprinkled choco cake...gaagghhhhhh...so good...
Don't you wish you were there? I had the rhubarb upside down cake and it was perfection redefined. Lisa enjoyed her cherry cream cheese cake, apparently 'not as good as mom's', but still yummy.
Rarely dissapoints, this supper and pull is a 'must attend' event, mark your calendars for next year!
