Springtime quiz!

This flowering shrub (which often grows to the size of a tree) is in blossom right now...

Points go to the person who can name it.

Hint: it is known in these parts as *bush. The '*' is the name of a fish that always runs in the rivers this time of year...hence, the name!

Yayaya....Yellow!

Yes folks, springtime means yellow!

This past weekend, I snapped a bunch of shots of forsythia shrubs/bushes around the county. This gem was spotted in Dayspring.

People sure like their forsythia bushes, there was no shortage of opportunities to capture some yellow. No complaints here, they make any section of highway cheery just by being themselves.

Purple azaleas are coming in to bloom as the forsythia blossoms fade, stay tuned for...purple!

TASTEE FREEZE is OPEN!!!!

You heard right, the Hebbville Tastee Freeze is open once again for their FOURTY THIRD season.

It is time to drive past Auto Row in Bridgewater for some delicious burgers, all manner of fried goodies, the best bacon cheese dog you will ever taste...and, of course, a Boston Shake.

Do it. Get off the couch, get into your car and drive there, now.

...and get me a small twist while you're at it, kay?

Enjoy!

What's on This Weekend?

If you haven't been to the NSCAD residency at the fire hall, be sure to check out their Spring open house this Saturday:

In other events, this weekend is the battle of the teas! I'm a huge fan of all the suppers and teas that happen in Maitland, so that's my pick for this weekend. Sorry, Italy Cross....

Be sure to sample some of their fine tea at the Maitland event, because, as the suspendered tea server always says: "we make the best tea in Maitland!" And, he ain't kiddin'.

The straighest path between two points...

...isn't nearly as pretty as a curve-y one.

Shot last weekend at Keji, on the Hemlocks and Hardwoods trail.

Splash!

No, not the Darryl Hannah "Splash!".

Shot last night...some of the boys, out at the spot, trying to catch the shoulder, and avoid the big seal that was lurking in that area. Word is, the ocean is warming up, almost time to shed the winter suit and don the 4/3's!

I am happy I captured the seaweed getting tossed up in the air in this shot. I missed a bunch of other opportunities, so I'm glad at least one turned out. ^_^
