First South, Hwy. 3 (Lighthouse Route)

En route to Hirtle's for some after work surf action, I spotted this thick 'n' black patch:

More Nineveh/Colpton brake burn action!

Hwy. 325 & Hwy. 208
Colpton, NS
May 31, 2008

I have been referring to these as Nineveh burns, when in reality this spot is in Colpton. I guess the absence of road signs got me confused where I was. It'll be hard for the locals to saw down the new road signs since they been replaced with metal posts.

In case you're wondering, folks cut down these signs for: A) good times/kicks and B) big hunks of metal to fix the holes in their vehicles' floors and body panels. To quote one of my neighbours, "that's good metal!"

Sand seal burns--Watford Rd.

Watford Rd., Watford, NS
May 28, 2008

Some good 'ole sand seal burnin' (or is that melting?) at the beginning of the Watford Rd. Looks like I'll have to survey the Northfield Rd. for other recent offerings:

Blasts from the Past--Martinique Beach Truck Tractor

I've decided to start posting items from my old website for those of you who've only been reading the blog.

For starters, check out this awesome home-made back hoe I found on the way to Martinique Beach:

Some kind of fuel return system....thank god for 2L pop bottles!

It looks like the hoe rotates on a pedestal or something, it looks like it's chain driven at any rate, if it's not completely seized up...

I would LOVE to see this thing running!

Conquerall Mills Rd. burns

Conquerall Mills Road (Conq. Bank to Conq. Mills)
May 23, 2008

This road is not for those with 'low rider' cars, it's a real pounding for your car's suspension system....still, those who dare venture down this cratered side road reap the sweet reward of fresh burns:

A nice, long burn at the intersection with the Lakefield Rd. (heads towards Lake Centre) and the Conquerall Mills Road.

Further down the road, we are met with the Mark of Zorro!!

The many hills on this road leave lots of opportunities for spinnin'

A dark patch starts this short burn up a hill

A good example of 'rutschin'. It must be quite the art to swerve, burn AND stay out of the ditch.

Grimm Rd. burns

May 15, 2008
Grimm Road

Back Centre?, NS

If I were a cop, I'd hang out on this road on the hour/half hour catching folks (like me) who drive like a maniac trying to catch the ferry. Last Thursday, I was actually early, which left me time to snap some pics of the recent burns on this road:
