Good 'ole golden chain

Golden chain trees are....glorious.

After the forsythias have bloomed, after the kerria bushes have come and gone, it is another welcome splash of yellow in yards around the county.

Sadly, their blossoms are starting to fade this week. So check out this two story beauty, shot on June 22.

Picton Castle anchored in Rose Bay

Here's another zoomed in shot of the Barque Picton Castle anchored in Rose Bay on July 18th.

I like how the power poles look like masts...and that Upper Kingsburg Rd. looks (and drives) more like a wave than a road!

What's on this weekend? Strawberry suppers and other greatest hits!

Decisions, decisions....perennial favourites abound, take your pic.

Experience the culinary delight that is the Newfie breakfast at the Chester Basin Legion or the 'hands on' touch of old ladies at the Lunenburg Legion Breakfast.

Strawberries are in season, and with them come strawberry suppers. A word of caution, not all of these suppers use fresh strawberries. Call in advance or ask at the door to avoid bitter disappointment.

The roast beef supper in Blue Rocks is tasty comfort food, but be prepared for a wait as this is a popular event!

Reversi Resplendent Rhodo's

The Rhodo's around the county are starting to fade, so here's the other side of the shot from yesterday.

Wednesday, 22 June 2011

Resplendent Rhododendrons Run Rampant!

I had to pull over and take a shot of these excellent rhododenron specimens, before the blossoms fade...or a big wind/rain storm knocks them off prematurely. A great sight on the longest day of the year.

Such lush colours around the county these days...I'm in love.

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

Welcome home, Picton Castle!

The Barque Picton Castle, anchored in Rose Bay Saturday, July 18th.

It was returning from its fifth circumnavigation voyage around the world.

Time to fix this one up

This 'ole beast might need to get resurrected after all this rain, the lawns are going to go crazy at the first sign of sun....whenever that is. Spotted back in April in Lunenburg.

Not ready to say goodbye to the forsythia

I've posted a picture of this house before, I love that shade of blue...especially with some gorgeous forsythia yellow as an accent colour. Sigh....

Friday, 10 June 2011

More sun, more flowers

Lots of lovely lilacs in bloom these days. Stop and take a moment to smell one, it's good for what ails you.

Thursday, 9 June 2011

Bye bye magnolias and forsythias, hello rhododendrons!,

Manged to bust out my 50mm f/1.8 for some foliage shots. I am loving all the rhododendrons, azaleas and other flowering shrubs busting out this week. Bring on the sun!!!

As bad as your Monday might be...

...at least you are not sitting in front of a vat of bubbling tar...if you are, I weep for you.

Spotted last week at the construction site of the new school in Lunenburg, Bluenose Academy.

Discarded tech

I wonder what's on that tape? Someone speaking in to their ghetto blaster's condenser mic? Late night recordings from the radio? If only I had a cassette player...that didn't eat tapes. (._.)

Amy Farrah Fowler would approve...

Spotted last Friday, blossoms are opening up everywhere this week after that nice stint of sun....Glorious flowering crabapples, cherry and apple blossoms everywhere!!!
