More shots from our local agricultural fair.
This time, I venture into the craft barn and wander around the 'other' barn in search of the elusive chainsaw belt buckle I saw there years ago...never to be seen again...
If you don't know who this guy is...you don't know Lunenburg County (hint: he calls in to the CKBW birthday line ALL the time)
I'm often tempted to break the glass and devour the delectable treats within the display case...
How's this spread for a sample of rural zeitgeist?
So THAT'S where those t-shirts come from!
Brake burns, church suppers,
fireman's breakfasts, truck tractors,
surfing and all the other things that
make the south shore great!

This weekend will be the 2nd attempt for the Conquerall Bank Fire Dept. Planked Halibut supper. More shots from The Big Ex...one pic sorta NSFW
I think I caught this couple 'mid-fight'....
And the award for most offensive shirt spotted at The Big Ex goes to.....this guy!
I did a double take when I saw this shirt! Quickly dug out my camera and snapped this shot...
Wow, he actually 'chose' to wear this shirt outside....in public....
Watching the horse and wagon rides...
This guy might be my new hero...
Brill cream lives and breathes at The Big Ex!
I guess there's a reason you didn't mess with 'greasers' back in the day...this guy still looks like he could mess me up!

This guy LOVED the camera...few could resist his siren's call to whac a mole....
I mean, look at him! He was born to be a carny.....
More Big Ex shots to follow tomorrow

Hurricane Bill shots & planked halibut supper update
First, an update on the Conquerall Bank Fire Dept. Planked Halibut supper.
Not surprisingly, it was cancelled this past Sunday due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for:
Aug. 30th I can only assume for the same bat-time, same bat-channel...
Now, for a couple Hurricane Bill shots, taken at Cherry Hill beach, Sunday afternoon:
I tried to get people in the foreground to give a sense of scale...needless to say, the waves were bigguns!
Is that Mount Fuji in the distance?
....nope, just a big ass wave...

SSIM burnout competition: last of the shots
Wow, one night of shooting turned into over a week of posts! Hope you enjoyed 'em...
A typical scene throughout the night, crowd enveloped by an acrid cloud of burnt rubber....I thought it smelled pretty gross, though a lot of the folks in the crowd seemed to like it. Different strokes...
This guy was responsible for that cloud of smoke, here he tries to pump up the crowd for cheers..Note his blown left rear wheel, good stuff!
I liked the light that was being cast on these guys hanging out....not the shot I was looking for, but close...
I like the way her arms lead your eye into the shot...
That's it, folks, next batch of shots will be from The Big Ex!

SSIM burnout competition, Free For All!
Too bad a lot of crowd had thinned out by this point...because the Free For All portion of the burnout competition was where it was at.
Basically, burn rubber 'till the tire(s) explode.
Ah___yeiah.
This guy could not contain his excitement...I mean, look at the cloud of burnt rubber surrounding him...what's not to love?!?

SSIM burnout competition: Rear Wheel Drive Class
This guy was happy to roll around in the wet, burnt rubber on the pad...actually, all the guys in the 'crew' seemed to have big grins on their faces, they must like burnouts or something..^_^
Even though it turned out blurry, I like this pic...hands on hips seemed to be the posture of the day...
The crowd wanted more growl and less 'whine', and they got it, first with this sweet burnout from a Chevy Nova Rally.
Ah___yeiah.
