Ons Burn

Most folks around here know where "Ons Erf" is (our farm in dutch, i believe) located...for those that don't, it's a family farm in Wileville (close to Newcombville)...

Not much room to pull over on the road, so I didn't capture all of this nice uphill offering:

Who's gay 'up home'? Check the highway, apparently...

I saw this writing on the highway on my way to work last week.
I finally stopped and took some shots, hilarious! Even funnier is that
the person who did this is probably my age, but with only the mental
maturity of a teenager >_<

Somewhere in East Clifford on Hwy. 325:

...aaaand, further down the road:

Lahave Islands Museum Luncheon

June 16th, 2007
Lahave Islands Museum Hall

Another foggy day (hard to tell them apart these last few weeks), and we had a hankerin' for lil' sammiches! Boy, did we get our fill.....

This was the first time either of us had been to this hall. An interesting note is that there is not any running water in this hall. The 'kitchen' is upstairs, so all of the water is lugged up a flight of rickety stairs and heated on the stove for all those hot water needs.. Pretty amazing, considering this all happens behind the scene...

At any rate, we bought our tickets and headed up a decidedly crooked set of stairs to the second floor. The ceiling is kind of low, and the floors all have that familiar uneven feel of an old building. There wasn't much of a crowd so we took a row of seats along the back wall. Kind of a treat since we didn't have to contend with people bumping into our backs as they tried to get out of their seats.

We dove in to the pretty styrofoam plates of sandwiches, as you can see the cherry and cream cheese sandwiches went fast!

The soup menu included : hamburg soup (see above), corn chowder, beef and barley and chicken vegetable. By all accounts, they were all delish!

Dessert was rhubarb or apple crisp, the rhubarb was tart and perfect and the apple crisp had the better 'crisp' so I'm told....

If you find yourself at Crescent Beach, make sure you venture out to the Lahave Islands Museum to check out the neat items they have on display!

One Colourful Truck Tractor

I saw my neighbour out in the yard getting this beast ready to run, so I started chatting him up about it.....neat rig, I might pick one up....

Here are some stills I took of it too:

Stonehurst Brake Burns 2007

Always entertaining, the Stonehurst brake burns are back, now with more 'blobs'!!

There is so much rubber and melted sand seal on this road, that the brake burners are basically doing road repair!
