Bluenose Academy - March Break

It's March Break this week, but it won't be long before the new Bluenose Academy is full of kids, sticking gum under decks and passing notes in lockers....kids still do that, right?

Bluenose Academy construction update

The building is coming along, the exterior looks to be nearing completion. I like the red siding they have chosen on the 'west wing'.

I don't know what the chimney stacks and the 'westeel' hopper is for. I'm assuming the school will be heated with corn cobs or some other farm waste?

Well, it's back to school day for many kids...

Looks like the new Bluenose Academy won't be open for the first day of this school year. No shocker to anyone who has actually looked at the construction site.

Should be a sweet building once it is finished....

Boys and their toys

South Shore Ready Mix was on site at Bluenose Academy this week, along with an interesting concrete pumper truck.

A crew of 'placers' was on the top floor moving the concrete around...I'm assuming a crew of 'finishers' will follow them shortly. Concrete is an interesting business.

Must've been playing with all those Tonka trucks as a child...

Surely that explains why I'm so obsessed with pics of construction projects? Bluenose Academy keeps getting bigger and bigger, cheggit.

Wow, he's using his fall arrest harness AND he's clipped in! Spotted him a couple weeks back at the construction site of the new school in Lunenburg .

New school

At the time, I didn't think this would be my favourite shot of the set, I was wrong.

L'burg curling club on the left, community centre on the right, and the new school under construction in the middle. My hat goes off to the construction crew, they worked right through that recent bitter cold snap...handling metal. Brrrr...

The Lunenburg Academy can be seen in the distance, while the new high school can be seen in the foreground, under construction.

They have made a lot of progress since I took this picture, more shots to follow...
