When life gives you lemons....

Lunenburg, NS
Sept. 16, 2013

Glad to see the 'plaza peelers' are making good use of the speed bumps installed in the Lunenburg Community Centre parking lot.

Some people see a speed bump, others see a makeshift 'brake stand'. I'm sure they make a lovely smell as they get melted by spinning tiyahs. ;-)

What's on this weekend? Breakfasts! Variety Supper! Art show!!!

This weekend is heavy on breakfasts (nothing wrong with that!) and light on everything else.

That being said, the First South Anglican Church Fall Variety supper is happening this Sunday.  Protip: skip lunch, expect at least a 30 minute wait and try erryding on the table!  Here's a review from 2010 for an idea of what to expect.  If you are lucky, you will spot a scene like this.

Don't forget the corned beef and cabbage supper next Wednesday, so goood....

The Life of a Northwoods Trailblazer Sure is Tough

Just looking at my old little guy makes me tired.  I found him in a random box in the attic at my mom's house.

A quick search online found the playset.  If you stumble across any Adventure People figures at a yard sale, pick 'em up!  Sets include such exciting things as 'Wild Animal Safari', 'Super Speed Racer' and 'Daredevil Sports Van'.  There are some nice pics of the figures and sets on this site.

Kingsburg: Apples and Ash

Kingsburg, NS
Sept. 12, 2013

A sunset shot on the way back from the beach.  My old pal, American Mountain Ash hanging out beside some apple trees.  Fall is on its way, WAAAAH!

A Windy Hirtle's Beach Sunset

Hirtle's Beach, NS
Sept. 12, 2013

A fruitless trip to the beach in search of waves, but I managed to get a cool shot of the low hanging clouds and wind on Romkey Pond.  It's all about balance, right?

Barn Sized Mountain Ash

Lower Rose Bay, NS
Sept. 15, 2013

I had a few precious minutes to spare en route to the Lahave ferry, so I pulled over and snapped a couple shots.  Glad I was up to catch the nice morning light on this barn.

Now that's a big mountain ash!  Trying to get as many shots of 'em as I can before the berries fade.....won't be long now especially with the risk of frost forecast for tonight.

What's on this weekend? Breakfasts! Open Farm Day!!!!!

Not much for grub this weekend.  Sunday is the day to discover where grub comes from.  It's Open Farm Day this Sunday!!!

Across the province, farms will be opening their doors to the public for demo's and tours.  Check out their site for more info on the event and also instructions to download their Open Farm Day app.

If you are in the Bridgewater area, take a spin out to Kevin Veinotte's farm and learn about his Belted Galloway cattle and Katadhin sheep (they shed!).  Flying Apron Cookery will be on site serving up beef soft tacos, what a treat!

Stay dry (yeah, right) and have a great weekend everyone!
